ROOTED Movement - Thursday, July 16th: 5:30-6:40pm
Movement and creative expression are vital keys to emotional, mental, and physical well-being across all ages. Yoga, an ancient technology stemming from India’s rich culture and traditions, is a system that helps bring a sense of wholeness to individuals and the communities they are part of. Through observation of nature, both inside and outside, and cultivation of awareness, union and unity can be found. Through ROOT (Real Opportunities offering togetherness/Radical Opportunities to Overcome Troubles Together) programming, Ashni guides participants through a series of asanas (Yoga poses) to connect with their bodies, hearts, minds, and the natural world. Utilizing the seasons as inspiration for classes, we will cultivate a greater connection to their body, breath and heart inspired by the Earth and all elements. Each class will include breath, movement, and meditation.
About Sunder Ashni: Ashni, daughter of Cynthia and Allan, is a farmer, at Mumbet’s Freedom Farm, facilitator, educator and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, with rich roots in the island of St.Vincent & The Grenadines. Relating to the earth and our earthly body as the container for our experience and the literal ground that holds the myriad world of feeling, story, sensation and meaning-making, Ashni invites those she is in connection with into a process in which we get to the root of what is calling for healing. Beyond ideas, past the limits of our conditioning, we invite an exploration of the infinite possibilities for healing with and through our bodies. While Ashni does not diagnose or provide clinical support, she has over 20 years of experience working with individuals and groups to manage stress, anxiety and the effects of trauma utilizing skills cultivated with dedication to our mutual liberation.
