Pricing & Payment

Our Equitable Sliding Scale Model

An Equitable Sliding Scale is a pay-based model that offers a price range which reflects an individual’s ability to pay for items/services with accountability to our interconnectedness. Woven Roots Farm and Finca Luna Búho are proud to provide you with this living document for your consideration.

This is one of our steps towards actively dismantling the injustice of the oppressive social structure of capitalism, white supremacy, and patriarchy that results in an unjust distribution of resources.

For each of us, our class and intersectional identities inform how we navigate our lives and make decisions. Due to our varying experiences, we hold different definitions of basic needs, savings, emergency funds, expendable income, etc. We request that those with wealth access try to deepen their understanding of how these definitions impact individuals’ day-to-day experiences.

We are here to create affirming and supportive care within our community. Our inspiration is drawn from our lived experiences.

We welcome you into this space of collective care and untold possibility—to learn, unlearn, remember and grow with us.

We recognize that even with this guide there are still many gray areas. We ask that you sit with what these experiences mean relative to where they are within lived realities versus life choices. This chart is intended to be a guide highlighting different points along the spectrum of access and gives examples that we hope will guide your moral compass in your decision-making.

We ask you to take a moment to thoughtfully consider the following and recognize the intersectionality of many of these experiences. Being in this level of solidarity allows us to care for one another in community and ensure that fresh food is accessible to all. The funds received from More Than Market Value contribute directly to our Solidarity Share Fund.

It’s important to note that implementing these systems of care is not supported within business models that we currently have. This is a labor of love and commitment to our community organizing, economic justice work, and collective liberation.

Equitable Sliding Scale Chart

This chart reflects the collective work of Woven Roots Farm and Finca Luna Búho,

and builds upon an expansive lineage of changemakers, movements and other beings.

this is How We Determine The Value Of Each Tier:

Market Value reflects what we believe to be the closest “true value” of the share, and reflects the cost not only of the food itself, but also materials, labor, and production costs. (Keep in mind that the Retail Value of a Full CSA Share is $880 which is 30% above our market value).

In effect, the range of the scale for a Full Share is between $417 (40% off market value) and $973 (40% above market value). The range for a Partial Share is $ 270 to $630.

For me, Woven Roots Farm has never been just about receiving fresh food. It has always been a community in support of the farmers, the resilient and hand-scale practices they uphold, the land they steward, and what that land provides to the community. While making charitable contributions and donations is an important way to provide necessary resourcing, donations are often made with only internal accountability. This new model reflects solidarity and accountability with the community around us. By paying more on the sliding scale based on my personal privileges and income, I am making a commitment that the economic choices I make to meet my own household’s needs also nourish the community around us.
